About VFW Post 10043 – Lewiston, Idaho

Chartered on November 22, 1953, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10043 has proudly served the Lewis-Clark Valley for more than seventy years. As a member of Idaho VFW District 2, our Post continues a long-standing tradition of service, leadership, and advocacy on behalf of America’s veterans.

Located near the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers, Post 10043 remains deeply rooted in the Lewiston community. Our members represent multiple generations of military service, united by shared experiences and a continued commitment to serving others.

We are an active, working Post that remains engaged year-round. Each week, we host Veteran Coffee every Tuesday, providing a welcoming environment for connection and mutual support. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 1900, where members guide our mission, programs, and community involvement.

Throughout the year, VFW Post 10043 supports veterans and local families through a wide range of programs and services, including:

  • Local food drives

  • Poppy sales and state raffles supporting the Veteran Relief Fund

  • Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies

  • Community breakfasts and fundraising events

  • Annual Cornhole tournaments

  • Participation in Wreaths Across America

  • Highway 95 Adopt-A-Highway service

  • Community hall rentals that strengthen local partnerships

Our work is strengthened by the dedication of the Sourdough Auxiliary 10043, whose members provide essential volunteer support for veterans, families, and community outreach programs.

In addition to ongoing programs, Post 10043 is focused on strengthening its future through continued membership growth, expanded community engagement, and investment in our facilities. Current initiatives include the launch and development of our website and ongoing improvements to the VFW Hall to better serve members and the public.

Membership in VFW Post 10043 offers both tangible benefits — such as veterans advocacy, education assistance, and financial programs — and intangible benefits including camaraderie, leadership development, and lifelong friendships.

Veterans who served in an eligible overseas conflict or expedition may qualify for membership, and interested individuals are encouraged to contact the Post for assistance with eligibility and enrollment.

VFW Post 10043 remains committed to honoring the past, supporting the present, and building a strong future for veterans and the Lewiston community.
